What is Kiteboarding?

There is a sport that is like surfing, wakeboarding, and flying all at once.  If you’ve ever been to Pismo Beach on a windy day, you will see over two dozen kiteboarders in the water or doing tricks high above it.  Most of these riders are ordinary people that are simply addicted to this amazing extreme sport called kiteboarding.

Kiteboarding uses the wind to combine the aspects of surfing, snowboarding, wakeboarding, and windsurfing into one extreme ocean sport.  The kite, anywhere from 6-20 square meters, powers the rider through the water.  The kite will have either 4 or 5 lines up to 27 meters long that connect to a control bar, which the rider pushes and pulls to control the kite in any direction.  The bar hooks into the rider’s harness, which is most often worn around the waist. A board similar to a wakeboard or surfboard enables the rider to fly over the water. Check out our kites, boards, and harnesses here

We carry Naish, DaKine, Slingshot, Neil Pryde, Caution, NPX, Starboard, Creatures of Leasure, Ocean and Earth, Werner, Garmin, AzHiAzIaM, MBS, and much more.

The third generation Choptop combines the wave abilities of a small-wave surfboard with onshore performance and compact manoeuvrability.
  • Single Concave Bottom
  • Multizone biotech construction
  • NEW SHAPE FOR 2010

The third generation Choptop combines the wave abilities of a small-wave surfboard with onshore performance and compact manoeuvrability. The surf rail allows for driving carves and bottom turns, with a hard-tucked edge for light-wind planing. A wide tail and flat rocker entry create incredible light-wind performance, with great high-wind control due to the "over the board" rider geometry. Skyhooks can be easily removed and repositioned for personal preference, and there is also the option of foot straps.

The 5'3" features a concave deck with a low centre of drive that improves strapless performance. Its wide platform and outer buoyancy make transition significantly easier than a skimboard or traditional directional. The new 5'8" is perfect for light-wind conditions and heavier riders, providing enough buoyancy for crossovers surfing for an 85-kg rider in small surf (up to shoulder high). Perfect performance in less than perfect conditions.

The new Choptop has come of age and is now available in two size: the 5'3" and 5'8". Both boards are designed for onshore crappy mush riding and light wind surf up to say shoulder high conditions. The plan shape makes these boards easy to learn to ride directionals as the width offers stabilty and early planing as well as great upwind ability.
